What the buildings are like
Three kinds of building, three different jobs.
- Downtown condos
- Riser shut-downs need notice, the service elevator needs booking, and management usually wants insurance documentation before anyone starts. We work to the building's rules, not around them.
- Older houses
- Cast iron stacks, galvanised supply, and clay drain lines with root intrusion at the joints. Common across the older Toronto neighbourhoods, and worth knowing before the wall opens.
- Newer builds
- PEX manifolds, concealed cisterns and in-wall carriers. Different problems — mostly access panels that were never put in.
